Ardour 9.0 released

When I checked out the nightlies for Ardour 9 out of curiosity, I was extremely surprised - What made you reconsider to implement it? Did the guys from Harrison want it for Mixbus?

We needed it for editing clips/cues.

Well, I’m not complaining! Happy I can actually use Ardour now!

The main use case was to copy mixer strip state (plugins) and apply that to existing tracks.
…and as side-effect one can also import as new tracks, with some limitations.

There’s also a progress bar missing, creating a large number of tracks can take some time.

A huge kudos and congratulations to everyone involved with this release, especially to Paul and Robin.

The shear amount of coding and sleepless hours you have put into this, and still continue to remain very active on this forum is nothing short of impressive and amazing. No other project, commercial or OSS is like this, not even close.

Thank you! You guys ROCK!

Congratulations on the Ardour 9 release!
Many thanks to the developers for the great work. I use Ardour together with Mixbus, and everything works smoothly every time.

Very nice. Thanks for your continuous work on Ardour. Will check out this weekend.

Wow… that must be the longest list of improvements ever! Well done to all the devs!!

is anybody having my same problem? I want Ardour to stop at the End marker, and even if the box ā€œStop at the end of the sessionā€ is checked in Edit/preferences/transport, it still going far away all the time… maybe because I used to have it further???

I am on
System:
Kernel: 5.15.0-168-lowlatency x86_64 Desktop: Cinnamon 6.0.4
Distro: Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia
base: Ubuntu 22.04 jammy

I’d like to thank the entire development team for making the new version possible. There are a lot of new features and improvements that will benefit my workflow, too. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your work! Can’t wait to try it out (but being on NixOS it might take a little while :)).
In the meantime I’ve relayed the news in French here.

For me the separate piano roll is the thing I was hoping for, 90% of what I do is midi. I didn’t have any complaints about midi editing before the release, so I’m happy!

Edit: Congratulations!

Slight tangent but excellent video, Aleksandr :+1: I feel like the quality of these videos have improved this last year or so, so nice one  and thanks for making them.

Congrats to Paul & everybody!
Paul, i’m really sorry we really like pianoroll window    .
Wow, an release video?! That’s way to serious, i have to go find some clunkier project asap…

EDIT: Just glanced over release video…Ardour’s native RTA’s for tracks/channels?
How did i even miss that one in annoucements? Seems like pianoroll occupied my attention.
RTA’s are something i use daily everywhere nowadays…
Cooool.
