Ardour 8.12 / 9.0 RC2
Ardour can be rather slow to open and also to close depending on what popup windows show up during startup / shutdown.
These popups are programmed to occur so there is no way to eliminate them.
Noticed that it takes a while, while on the “splash screen” (dialog with large Ardour logo). Mentions the processes occurring in text at bottom of this popup.
I was wondering if anything can be done to reduce the time/processes it is performing at launch? It is nice when applications load up quickly.
The text at bottom shows that one of the processes is a scanning of LV2 plugins that occurs at each startup which takes a good amount of time.
I was going to mention this specifically but then read this post
so I guess nothing can be done about this.
In Preferences - Plugins category, I do not have any of the first 3 check boxes on under the “General” section.
So Scan for [New] plugins on application start is off.
I would like startup in general to be fast but another reason is that I also have been trying to help test this program for issues and I find myself opening and closing this program a lot, so if anyone has any ideas of how to speed things up, please let me know
