Hello, I didn’t realise there were time limits for topics on this forum, so I’m reopening the same topic with a video that has sound.
I can open Zyn and get sound when I use it with my keyboard.
When I want to use Zyn as a plugin, I can’t. Thank you in advance for your help.
Well, on your track you can see you start with the fader, then you insert MIDI (the red connector) in your EQ and from there over to your synth, so my first guess would be that you actually need to set up the track properly. Synths usually go first, to produce the sound. The you use EQ to shape the sound, and then the fader to set loudness level in the mix.
Same thing with your first track. Usually you want the fader to be the end of the process chain. You may see that in the other tracks everything is set up correctly.
To re-arrange these elements, simply drag and drop them into position. The wiring should be done on it’s own.
Used to run into a lot of Zyn problems like this and it was usually down to MIDI channels so just in case it helps…
Zyn is designed for multiple MIDI channels, and you can load different patches at the same time, into different ‘Parts’ with each ‘Part’ on a different MIDI channel. So maybe you’re sending MIDI notes on a channel for a ‘Part’ that is not activated
Look in the Zyn GUI Mixer settings and try changing the MIDI channel set to ‘Part 1’, trying different MIDI channels until it starts making sound. (Presuming the patch you want is on ‘Part 1’)
You could also try turning on all the different ‘Parts’ and see if any of them start making sounds.
That is the channel routing options. You should be able to double click the zynn module on the rack and a GUI window should open up. I think what e_r meant was that you need to set that up inside zynn itself, navigating through it’s inner tab to where you can set the MIDI channel incoming.
I have a debian . How can I get the VST version ? When I visit Synaptic and I ask fot VST, man says I have already zyn VST . But when I scan the plug I just see zyn-lv2.
did you try rescanning or making sure that in the folders where ardour search for plugins the vst folder is also included?
in my linux mint 21.3 they are in /usr/lib/vst , but they could also be in /lib/vst
maybe did you just right clicked the ZynAddSubbFX plugin button and then clicked on “Edit with generic controls”? if that is the case, try right clicking again and press “edit” that should bring the GUI again.
Maybe you are installing a particular version that has no GUI? I Don’t know much about Zynn, but I understand this GUI implementation I have was created on top of the synth itself.
I would also try asking them, since they are francophones and are offering you the plugin. One further step you can take to solve your problem is troubleshoot all versions of Zynn. By this I mean, do you have a GUI using stand alone? Vst? LV2? If you have no GUI whatsoever then it’s clearly a Zynn issue, so I would probably re download from another source or something.
