X42 Plugins - Any plans to release VST3 versions

I was just wondering, now that VST3 plugin format has been released as open source, are there any plans to release VST3 versions of the X42 plugins?
For free versions, pay versions and for source code for users to compile versions of X42 plugins.

Thank You

No, there are not. Also no plans for CLAP or any other plugin format either.

In my experience plugins that ship in multiple formats often results in sub-standard version of at least one of the formats, or bugs specific to a given format that is not extensively tested. I don’t want to go down that road.

PS. it’s a lower-case x in x42 (it used to be a unix/AFS username given to me).

LV2 versions work quite well, so porting to VST3 feels like a waste of time to me. More plugins instead, please.

My first every Linux Audio project was just that: An always-on Microphone performing FFT, looking for matches of the word “Kaffee”, and a couple of relays hooked up to the parallel-port of the PC. Back in 1998/9 at only 8kHz sample-rate. Getting the soundcard to work was actually the hardest part.

I did not have the vision where this could lead.

Anyway, given my involvement with Ardour, it is unlikely that I will spend time developing new plugins in the near future. Though I enjoy writing them since they’re projects that are complete at some point.

Okay, thank you Robin
I guess to branch off of response to other users comment about plugins
In the past I read that you had mentioned something along the lines of adding Pitch and Formant parameters to the x42 Autotune plugin, does that mean that that will not be happening any longer?

It would be a new plugin to not break existing sessions.

Like Fons-at1, it’d be based on zita-at2 as presented at Linux Audio Conference, he hinted that the usual-suspects (aka me) would make a plugin. Later he asked me for help to write the plugin himself, I provided him a LV2 skeleton, and he has not yet released any source code yet. Also no JACK app at LinuxAudio-Downloads

Ah thank you Robin

I had never seen that video before, the technical aspects were over my head in the presentation but really exciting to see something like this being worked on.

I did not know that these started off as standalone applications (JACK applications), I thought maybe they were in older plugin format like LADSPA and that you created them as LV2 and added GUIs to them. More importantly, I was not aware that the developer was still working on projects, great to see that he is continuing to work on improving his applications.

A concern of mine was that these added parameters would be tied into the other existing parameters, but it was nice to see that these can be used independently from the rest of the plugin as well.

Hopefully he will release this soon/at some point, looks like some great stuff being worked on from that video. Application seemed almost ready in the presentation but he mentioned that he was still improving things which is great to hear as well, worth waiting if he can make even more improvements to this.

Yeah I agree probably makes sense to make this a new plugin.
Oh, he was planning on creating this plugin himself?
I would have seen it being part of x42 (see I listen) plugins, to go with the others. Little confusing that that plugin will be elsewhere. I see what you mean now, yeah no JACK app, that means that it has not been released yet.

“aka me”
Yeah that is funny that he just threw that out there
On top of that I didn’t know you were there

Was that you that asked the question about very short notes?
That right there is what it feels like to ask a developer for something you are interested in, and then the response is… neh
I thought that was a really good question though, to his point a quarter of a second does sound like a fast amount of time, but it would be nice to be able to set to the fastest response time possible just to give user the ability to adjust to the use case.
If this parameter existed, then user could go the opposite way as well, playing around with slower response times as well.
Hopefully he reconsidered this.
There was also another question other audience member brought up that was again over my head but sounded like it could be another possibility of something to be added to the application/plugin.

Anyways, thank you again for reply/sharing this video.
I guess I will keep an eye out for this in the future.

Where can I find zita-at2?

As far as I know Fons has not yet published it.
