While still waiting for the delivery of a Launchkey 25 MK4, I’m watching a replay of a demo around the new Novation Launchkey MK4 keyboard family, given by a Novation expert.
EDIT: the above mentioned demo is on youtube (titled: [LIVE] Nouveaux Novation LAUNCHKEY MK4 avec Chris Calcutt).
As in the device user guide, the demo focus exclusively on the integration with Ableton Live. Also, the Launchkey 25 MK4 user guide only cites Ardour in the very beginning as amongst the supported DAWs, but throughout the rest of the document there’s no example given with Ardour.
As a complete beginner (both as a musician and as a music production dude), I wonder where can I possibly turn to, in order to quickly grasp the most important basics of the operation of these two components together, i.e., Ardour and the Launchkey 25 MK4.
I wish there was some similar demo (or specific tutorial) showing how does Ardour 8.7 and Launchkey MK4 family of MIDI keyboards interact, given that their core functionalities and features are the same, except for the faders in the two top tier models …

EDIT: I would assume that such kind of matter is meant to be jointly addressed by both Novation and Ardour teams. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Other than that, you can grab the user manual for the Launchkey and simply follow it, most things will just work as expected.
There are a couple of things that aren’t currently mapped (afaik, the quantize button, but I could be wrong). And there’s a few things like Capture MIDI that are simply not available in Ardour, so there is nothing to map them to.
I don’t have the device (nor am I planning to get one), I just documented what I figured out from reading the manual and what @paul told me about the implementation. You are welcome to enhance the documentation once you have the Launchkey.
