Which of these would be better for using Ardour: 2012 i5 iMac, or 2011 i7 MacBook Pro?

Hello there again, :wave:

So Iā€™m just wondering if Ardour in particular will likely run at least slightly better (perhaps mildly better?) with the option on the left (the 2012, 2.9GHz, 4-core, i5 iMac) than the option on the right (the 15", 2011, 2.0GHz, 4-core, i7 MacBook Pro)?

According to these Geekbench numbers, the iMac should run 10-15% faster, supposedly:

I already have that 15" laptop (with 16GB ram, 1TB SSD) by the way, but I have an option for the low-low price of 100Eur to get that iMac for what would be dedicated Ardour editing.

Any quick thoughts/opinions?

I doubt you will realistically notice a huge difference, but at the very least make sure the iMac also has decent Ram and an SSD.
