I had set up foldback monitors for IEM and then later noticed that the monitors did not have the configured plugin effects on them. The effect plugins had been added on the very track where the foldback monitor was coming from. So apparently the foldback monitor tapped the signal from before the plugins, i.e. directly from its input? I had expected it to be identical to the track output signal.
Admittedly the fader plugin was incorrectly positioned before the effect plugins.
As a temporary solution I created a new track for each foldback monitor, sent the respective post-effect outputs there and used that new track just for the foldback monitor.
Anyway then I tried to reproduce the original issue on a different machine (both pre-fader and post-fader) and there the effects were applied to the foldback monitor signal. It was even the same debian ardour 8 version. That confused me even more.
So where exactly does a foldback monitor tap its signal from?
Can it be made visible in ardour somehow?
