When I copy and paste a section of track, it is cloned. I would like to make a copy instead. Is there a way to do this?

This is presumably describing working with MIDI.

Two options:

  1. Session > Properties > Misc … [ ] MIDI region copies are independent
  2. right click on the region, follow its name to “MIDI” then then choose “unlink”

The first will affect all future MIDI region copies in this session; the second will affect only the region(s) it is carried out on.
