[Ardour 8.10.0] This marker (green line) was set accidentally but It would very much suit my workflow as it is anchored to the audio region, and things can be snapped to it. The problem is I haven’t a clue on how did I set it, nor do I find any reference in the docs to such a marker.
Can anyone point me in the right direction so that I can learn more about this mystery marker?

It’s a sync point. They can be add/removed using the main menu or context menu (right-click): Region > Position > Add/Remove Sync Point.
The position is also shown in Region > Properties.
It is very useful to snap a region to a given position, and sadly not very well documented.

I suspected it might be related to this “sync point” thing but was unable to set it. After reading your response and tinkering with it, the only way I managed to set this “sync point” was to rightclick on its value in the Region/Properties dialog and select “Set from Playhead”. That’s good enough for me!
I think the default shortcut is “V”. AFAIK there can be only one per region.
There are also “region cue markers” that are relative to the region, and they can also be snapped (right click on a region, first_line > markers). I use them a lot.
