What does 6.0 look like

(Mrskytown11) #1

For those who have access to the betas for version 6.0, what is it like

(Robin Gareus) #2

It looks just the same. The main ongoing work is all under the hood: large conceptual changes how time is represented (musical time, midi notes & looping) and signal flow (allow cue monitoring, latency compensation). “What is it like?” still mostly broken at this point in time.

Yes one thing to clarify, I don’t think it is even in ‘beta’ status at this point, it is still very much in development/pre-alpha iirc.

It is absolutely not even beta, and likely will not be so for several months.

Will version 6 be a major overhaul of ardour or just tweeks and features. Any chance of the layout and icons getting enhanced or upgraded.

Chances are that the GUI (look & feel) will not change at all for 6.0 (perhaps later in the 6.x cycle). 6.0 is predominantly a major overhaul of the backend to fix some long standing bugs and implement some long standing missing features…

Cool can’t wait to see what happens
