I would like to buy my son (8) a MIDI controller (Akai Mini Play, Aturia Minilab 3 or Novation Launchkey Mini).
He is already learning on a keyboard and loves music. I want to use the MIDI controller to enable him to experiment with music. He should also be able to quickly and easily generate, record and put together a few loops.
He already has a Linux PC. Alternatively, I could also provide him with a smartphone.
What other hardware do I need so that he can get started as quickly as possible?
An audio interface (usually USB, at least two analog inputs) and some decent headphones (i.e. full-size, non-BT, preferably half-closed or closed, if recording acoustic instruments). These need not cost more than 200 euros/buicks/quid together nowadays but of course you can pay more.
