What does it mean? How important is it?
It is a recording a friend made from me playing guitar in Cubase on 4 tracks.
I copied these tracks into Ardour2 and alligned them.
I did not use any vocoder, Modulator, cabbage-HiperSaw, midiNotchFilter, cabbage-pvsBlur, cabbage-StereoChorus, RingModulator or Pianoteq or any plugin conciously.
I think those messages are just coming out of Ardour not being able to scan / init some installed linux VST plugins successfully on startup, I don’t think it relates to plugins used in the session necessarily (though what exactly is causing them to fail is not clear)
linuxdsp is correct. I also don’t understand why you are using Ardour2. You also appear to have misinstalled a bunch of plugins too (or have found a very interesting set of Linux VST plugins that I don’t know about). Why are all these plugins in “/usr/lib/vst” ? They are not VST plugins. Do you understand that “VST” is a specific type of plugin format, rather than a generic term for “plugins” ?
thank you all for the input!
Why is Ardour trying to start VSTplugins? I have not installed any plugins at all.
Yes i use Ardour3 on a 64bit system now, the session was first made in Ardour2 on a 32bit system.
Thank you!
@paul: …and a lot of VSTs have been ported since (e.g. because) Ardour now supports native VSTs - for all its alleged failings, a lot of developers are more familiar / comfortable with VST and there is a wealth of plugins already coded (albeit perhaps for other OS initially). As a developer, I would much prefer to support only VST on linux (as is necessary for all just about all other operating systems in one form or another) rather than having to provide yet another plugin build / format e.g. LV2 etc specifically for linux. How that may change with VST3, and / or the move away from X11 by some distros (X11 being kind of integral to linuxVST at the moment - and a lot of usable LV2 GUI functionality at some level too) remains to be seen…
