Virtual Playing Orchestra website closed?

Hey, guys. I did some research and saw that Virtual Playing Orchestra is the best free orchestra right now, and I wanted to download it. But when I clicked into the link, it showed that the website now has an… error?

Help me now, is the website now permanently closed? Are there any alternatives to Virtual Playing Orchestra? I need something for my new project :frowning:

Virtual Playing Orchestra – Virtual Playing seems to work just fine

I ask the same question too.
In VPO, violins (…violas and other strings) seem a bit metallic and not very warm…
What do you think?
Any free alternatives for realistic bowed string instruments?

Thanks,
a.

This is another option:

EQs and filters exist?

I think they’re warm enough:

Also there are the SCC Expressive Strings:

There license status is a bit undefined, though.

I still don’t work miracles with EQs and filters…

It’s certainly pleasant to listen to, but IMHO the sound seems a bit artificial…
But maybe I’m demanding too much.

Bye,
a.

That’s a different thing than “not very warm”, though.

I say, you get what you pay for.

Hi, there is a software called soundpaint that you might be interested in.

It is commercial, but the program is free and on their website they have several free instruments, the rest are paid but with reasonable prices, I think.

It is a very interesting program, with various possibilities of control and sound design, very entertaining.

It is for Mac and Windows but works very well on Linux Ubuntu 22.04 with Wine Winehq-9.19 (Staging), from version 3 of Soundpaint.

This is the link to their website -->> https://soundpaint.com/
