Would anyone have any suggestions for making a vinyl scratch sound effect? I assume that something similar could be made by manipulating playback speed and direction, but how would I do that with a single track? Is there a built in functionality to achieve what I want? Or maybe there are some free plugins for that?
The Calf Vinyl plug-in (or also the VyNil by Steve Harris, etc…) imitates the typical “defects” of vinyl records.
I think what Qualphey wants to know is how to imitate the “scratching” sound produced by DJs, right?

You could load the file into Mixxx, make a recording with Mixxx, then load the recording back into Ardour.
