Video Monitor stays black on macOS

I’m having problems with the Video Monitor on macOS.

Importing a video into Ardour works just fine, however, when I open the video monitor and start playback, the Video Monitor window just stays black (with a white X striking through the whole window), no time code, nothing is shown.

macOS Version is 10.14.6 and Ardour is the official 5.12 build bought from the website.

Any hints where to look at in this case?

Doe it happen with any video, or only a particular one?
Have you used “Import/Transcode Video to session”?

Can you try with http://robin.linuxaudio.org/tmp/tsmm2_360_25_1h.mp4 if that also has the issue?

I have no idea what I did different now, but I opened and closed the video monitor multiple a few times now it suddenly started working…
