Hi, I saw someone asked that question a while ago but it never got answered afaik.
Is there anyway to export with varispeed on? I tried RT export but it just ignores the varispeed and exports at normal playback speed.
I need to strecth an entire set of stems up by 7 semitones, without pitch preservation. Usually I just bounce the stems to a friend who has FL or Ableton Live for that sort of stuff. But I’d like to just be able to crack on without having to wait in DM limbo for hours.
is there any way to do that? I LOVE how the varispeed sounds. If I could just consolidate the way it sounds in my project I’d have hyperpop/dariacore gold between my hands.
but you can time-stretch the regions on the timeline itself with the timestretch tool (press t) using “resample without preserving pitch” as stretch mode.
Stretch to 66.74% (7 semi-tones up = 2^(-7/12) = 66.741… %)

PS. an alternative is to capture the output of Ardour live in another program.
e.g. jack_capture on Linux. Then you can just play normally and vari-speed manually
Just keep in mind that you should limit that file you captured with another software again. Idealy, you shouldn’t master before exporting with varispeed/capturing in another software.
So, first change the speed as Robin suggested, and then master the track.
I gave it a try, but it has a tendency to slip out of tempo, like it’s ever so slightly getting stretched down more and more the closer I get to then end of the region? it’s barely noticeable on short sections obvioulsy but over a 5 minute song it starts making quite a difference. I check “minimize time distortion” still
If it just individual regions, it’s all good.
If it’s finalized, limited track(finished song), you just have to limit it again, because, speeding or slowing down changes the dynamics also, so, it’ll most likely jump over 0 on peak meter.
