Unable to drag and extend an audio clip

So on Ableton I am used to being in the arrangement view (much like the editor view) and then simply clicking at the end or start of a clip, holding the button down and it simply extends the clip to the desire length. I can shorten a clip but not extend it. I had a look around on the forum, saw the same issue but didn’t really see a solution. Tried Chat GPT but sometimes it just makes stuff up beyond how to set up Ardour and ALSA etc.

Other than this, it’s not looking too bad.

Also, how can I have a clip window to audition samples and drag and drop without having to open an audio track then import that way?

It seems that you want to do Audio Cue Editing, which according to https://discourse.ardour.org/t/whats-coming-in-ardour-9-0/ “may or may not make it” to the next major version (9.0). So, right now, it simply doesn’t exist in any released version of Ardour.

Apart from this you can already audition loops / samples on the cue page IIRC (on my mobile phone right now, and unable to check).
