UI partly frozen

Anyone else have that lately? I was trying to play back and toggle the LSP EQ plugin on and off. Then noticed it wasn’t working. Then I found I couldn’t click on anything in the main body of the UI. It hadn’t locked up all together though, as space paused it fine. I could click onto the editor window, but similarly, clicking regions didn’t work. How weird!
This is latest ardour 8.12 on Fedora latest.

Some have reported this on IRC lately an it seems to be caused by a bug in [X]Wayland.

I don’t know if this was reported to Fedore/XWayland devs though. The plugins work fine with classic Xorg.

At least not just me then, raised a bugzilla - 2369599 – Xwayland issues with Ardour

Love they;re still using bugzilla. Just like in Saigon, eh slick?

The same happened after update Fedora 42, not only with LSP but probably with bunch of plugins - UI is particularly frozen and it unusable.

Are you using the LSP binaries from the Fedora repository, or from the LSP web site?

From here - lsp-plugins.x86_64 1.2.22-1.fc42 copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:ycollet:audinux

As I’ve put on the bug report over there, it seems to be doing it logging in with X on Gnome as well. Also with extensions disabled. Also, it happens to me on Brave browser if I open a new window.

Thanks for posting. I’m having a similar problem F42, Ardour 8.12. Hard to diagnose. This ArdourG+ process seems to be doing a lot at idle? But I don’t know what that is.

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
  66566 dan 20 0 6423684 1.2g 88292 S 33.6 9.7 0:40.73 ArdourG+

So far, if you wait a few minutes for the UI to respond again - you can continue. But it crashes sometimes during the hang.

Check, which version of mutter (the GNOME window manager) you have installed.

mutter-48.3-1.fc42 is buggy
mutter-48.3-2.fc42 (released yesterday) reverts the change that introduced the buggy behaviour.

All the details about the bug here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/1kzyr9l/warning_critical_bug_in_gnomes_mutter_483_breaks/

Thanks for that - hopefully it will help:

yesterday: mutter-48.3-1.fc42.x86_64
after update this morning: mutter-48.3-2.fc42.x86_64

I’ll see how it goes.

I ran dnf update, and its now fixed for me I think
