Ubuntu Studio 24.04 nvidia driver not allowing 2nd monitor

Hi All…

Discovered that I can get Ubuntu Studio (my fave distro before snap) with out snap so have downloaded and installed it (Xubuntu, then 24.04 Studio installer on top), but the nvidia driver, any of them, will not allow a 2nd monitor.
Nouveau driver works fine with 2 monitors, but get massive lag when using Ardour with it.
My GPU is a GeForce GTX 1070. I have seen a lot of folks out there with exactly the same issue and they all lose their 2nd monitor when the nvidia driver is installed, the 470 driver just produces lots of different errors and does not install at all, keeps trying to download and install it every time I do an update. The other drivers (535 - 575) will all install, but after a reboot, the 2nd monitor is off and can find no way to get the system to detect it.
Spent nearly 2 days trying to get around this, read so many posts of the exact same problem, but am yet to see any solution that works for me. Most seem to be trying different ways of getting the driver installed, that does not do anything for me.
There are so many posts out there regarding this that I felt sure I would come across what the actual issue is, but I have yet to see the problem identified in any way.
Anyone have any ideas about this? Have yet to enjoy this distro as I cant get past this problem, the issue seems to be with Ubuntu 24 (not specifically Studio) and most of the posts I have seen are where folk upgrade from 22 to 24 then get this issue…

I’m running Ubuntu Studio 24.04.3 LTS with NVidia 550.163.1, GeForce GTX 750 and two Lenovo 1920x1200 monitors. All seems OK after overcoming some sleep/resume issues that were related to NVidia. Let me know if I can help with any diagnostic information e.g.
