In the Ubuntu 23.10 environment, Ardor 8.4 with linuxsampler remembered the path to the *.sfz files.
On Ubuntu 24.04 I can’t play *.midi without opening Fantasia or Qsampler. Moreover, even *.lscp files created in Fantasia or Qsampler do not work. Every time when I open a session, I need to re-specify the path to the *.sfz, which is very inconvenient.
Obviously, the reason is in the software environment. Either linuxsampler doesn’t send the *.sfz to Ardor, or Ardor doesn’t want to accept them.
I updated the Ardor from source code to version 8.6 and the linuxsampler kit to the current svn version, but the problem remained.
Can you fix this or suggest anything?
Hi, Try loading your SFZ files with the Sfizz plugin, I advice you to use the VST3 version because Ardour becomes a little temperamental with the LV2 version, here’s the link Home - SFZTools download for your linux distro version or add the ppa following the instructions.
But all my projects used linuxsampler. So far I have not found the reason why in the Ubuntu 24.04 environment with Ardour v. 8.4 or 8.6 I see the path to *.sfz being called incorrectly.
Sheduling '/home/sat/Ardour/t/plugins/462/state3/state.ttl/Drums Standard.sfz' (Index=0) to be loaded in background (if not loaded yet).
Loading sfz file '/home/sat/Ardour/t/plugins/462/state3/state.ttl/Drums Standard.sfz'...OK
Loading sfz instrument ('/home/sat/Ardour/t/plugins/462/state3/state.ttl/Drums Standard.sfz',0)...OK
state.ttl is not a folder! But in Ardour itself folders of projects I see the right path.
Update.
I found a workaround to fix this problem. You need to download packages from Ubuntu 22.04 from https://pkgs.org: liblilv-0-0_0.24.12-2_amd64.deb liblilv-dev_0.24.12-2_amd64.deb lv2-dev_1.18.2-1_amd64.deb
and block them in Synaptic.
Everything works as before. We urgently need to write to the linuxsampler developers.
Hi, it is not recommended to force a library like liblilv using an older version because it could break other app functions for make work a specific app because many libraries are shared with other apps made specifically for Ubuntu 24.04 version
Here is another good SFZ player LV2 plugin and it have the precompiled binary to download GitHub - swesterfeld/liquidsfz: SFZ Sampler , Good Luck!
Just out of curiousity - is something like Nextcloud or a Windows filesystem involved and is the LV2 format used? I had a similar problem with LV2 LSP plugins that do load samples. There were a number of symlinks used in the plugins folder of the project which neither Nextcloud nor Windows filesystems can handle.
