Two Questions in using Ardour

I’m a Beginner:

  1. How can I cut parts of a track and how can I move it to another position?

Start by becoming familiar with the Ardour terms in the “Editing basics” section of the manual:

In short you likely are starting with a single region on a track which encompasses the entire recorded audio. You split the region where you want the audio separated into different sections, then you can delete, move, or copy the new regions which were created by separating the original single region into multiple regions.
The regions all refer to the original audio data which was recorded, and modifying the regions does not modify the audio data on disk, so you can always get back to the starting point if needed.

One way you can do this is to position the mouse over the region where you want to cut (look at the snap button and the grid mode drop-down next to it to set how fine a grid you want to see when you do this. You can also choose not to snap to grid) and hit “s” to split the region. You can zoom in on the session if you need to in order to find a more exacting split point. (Use the - and + keys to zoom out and in.) Separate the part you want to move by splitting it from the rest of the region. You can then drag it as needed.

#2 I can’t help you with, as it was written in invisible ink.
