i’ve been living in the stone age of Pro-Audio for far too long to please bear with me as i make the switch (i.e. please excuse the many Cakewalk references i’m sure to make)
i’m looking to apply a Graphic Equalizer to an individual track in Ardour.
…similar to the (i think it’s 13 band) EQ that Cakewalk 9 has in it’s menu with the Normalize and Remove Silence Features.
i can’t find a function similar to this in Ardour and i found it extremely useful.
o… and is this the best forum for advice with Ardour or is there a Pro-Audio forum with a greater productivity that covers Ardour.
ardour doesn’t come with any builtin FX. we have noted that everybody has their own opinions about good & bad basic FX like EQ, and we prefer to not get in the way of these discussions.
there are several LADSPA plugins available (all free) that provide various kinds of multiband, parametric and other assorted EQ models. we recommend that people find one that they like, and then optionally create a session template with the plugin present by default so that they don’t have to add it every time.
note that i (the main developer of Ardour) detest forums in every way. they are vastly inferior to the other kinds of communication channels that the ardour community uses: IRC (real time, large group of people, help available from different people generally very quickly), email lists (no real time requirement, even larger group of people, archived), and our bug/feature request tracker (no real time requirement, logged, searchable, useful).
if you have questions about ardour, i strongly recommend that you don’t waste time here in this or any other forum - get on our IRC channel as described
