Track Organizing Workflow Issues

Hello everyone,

i regularily stumble upon some things when organizing my sessions.

  • Routing tracks to busses
  • adding VCAs

Routing

Yes i know, i can group tracks and then add a subbus to that group. Problem is for example with drums:
all drums are in a drum group. But all snares shall go into a snarebus, all toms in a tom bus aso. Often enough i realize deep in the mixing process that track x to y is rather to be in a subbus but needs to stay in the group for several reasons. So i either have to destroy my established groupings or i have to add each track manually. The time routing each track adds up over time.
From my knowledge these are the two methods. According to the manual besides the group “add new subbus” function this is the only other mentioned method:

Alternatively, a group can be created manually, by first adding a new bus, then, for each track to be fed in the subgroup bus, disconnecting its outputs from the master and connecting it to the inputs of the subgroup bus instead. This can be done in the global audio patchbay or on a track by track basis via the output button of each track’s channel strip.

Q1: Again afaik the quick group feature doesn’t include routing. I’m wondering if i miss a feature for convenient quick routing of multiple tracks here.

Q2: Also, if i do the group subbus method the created bus is added “last” in the track order and not “after selection”. Can this be changed as it is possible when creating new tracks in the common way?

VCAs

Pretty much the same question. I’m not able to add multiple selected tracks to a VCA (besides using the group function).

Q3: Is there a way to add multiple selected tracks to a VCA besides grouping them first?

Disclaimer

I did a post the other day that included these questions. I also asked about coloring there and later realized that colors can be changed for selected tracks. Maybe that’s why i got no answer. So i tried all methods i came up with to do routing VCA addressing again assuming i missed something but with no success. Maybe i miss a simple way but i’m stuck atm.
