Is it possible to have some sort of visible track number indicator in both editor and mixer? Something that changes automatically when track order is changed?
Yes, although indirectly: Session > Properties > Filename > Prefix Track Number
This prefixes files when recording with a numeric ID, and also shows that in both editor and mixer.
