Long story short, my laptop crashed and will no longer boot to Windows 11. But it will boot to Ubuntu Studio. So after a lengthy learning session, I was able to get back into recording and mixing. Yay!
This is my first attempt with some friends at recording and mixing with Ardour. I was very nervous about how it would turn out. I have been a Cakewalk/Sonar user since the late 90’s. I’ve never had a reason to stray.
Anywhoo, give it a listen and let me know your thoughts.
That’s inconvenient for me, as I don’t use Spotify. I don’t see why I should have to pay to comply with your request. Could you please post it on a free platform?
Spotify does have a free tier, which I have been using for years. You just have to deal with advertising every so often. There is a lot of really good independent music to find on the platform.
No bueno. I’m out Bandcamp, however, is a superb ad-free and unenshittified platform and I encourage anyone and everyone to publish and procure music through its channel(s).
Anyway, back to your tune. Nice work on this Especially given you’re new to Ardour (and Linux). It’s a well-written dark(ish) ballad type deal that you’ve done well to mix I think. Not a fan of the pitch-corrected(?) vox but maybe that’s just because I’m unfamiliar with this genre…? As a rule, I always prefer uncorrected vox even when the vocalist struggles to hit and hold a note, a la Greg Dulli for instance (one of my fave singers in the world).
But all things considered, you’ve done a really good job on this particularly given your unfortunate (or fortunate???) Windows booting woes Nice one!
