Nice! I’m more of a “yacht rock” kind of guy, but once in a while I enjoy something a bit more raunchy. I’d love to hear more of the vocals; they seemed a bit drowned out by the guitars. Anyway, it got my head bobbing and my toe tapping.
Thanks Mate, much obliged! Gee, Yacht Rock or not, it’s always good to see that people are still into Rock’n’Roll at all! With a little luck Mr. Young is going to be proved right in the end…
Now isn’t it remarkable how different individual listening experiences are. I’ve been under the impression that the mix doesn’t do the beautifully overdriven hollowbodies full justice, particularly between the end of the guitar solo and beginning of the clap part. Rather prominent vocals there, particularly lead as I see it. I was just about to put some effort into another remix when your message came in…
BTW you did play it loud, didn’t you? It does make a difference.
However, I generally attempt to have the vocals sit in the mix and maybe I get carried away every now and then. The prologue and epilogue in the electric part of the song though are intentionally mixed a tad into the background.
I think we have to take into account that this is a YouTube upload generated from an MP4 which itself was created using the WAV exported from Ardour. There is SOME compression applied along the path, which shifts slightly out of whack what initially appeared quite balanced. The WAV already sounds different than what is playing in the DAW. I regularly correct that but in the end one or two sub-optimal details remain.
The WAV is on bandcamp, I may be sh*tting myself but it does seem to sound “rounder”:
Should you feel like listening to another raunchy, raucous rocker, there’s more on YouTube.
