The whole album ‘Who are The Burning Effigies?’ was mixed using Ardour for Linux. A lot of the production work (drum programming, synths and some recording) was also done in Ardour, though several DAWs were used for recording.
You can hear the whole album on the major streaming providers:
Waow, it is the specificity of this place. Sometimes one can fall on a complete professional production.
I had the same feeling with a spanish lady who is now on her motion.
I had not the time to listen to the whole thing, but it is clear that you are on the way….
The second title with II V riff in the beginning is ok , like the first one that I listened to from beginning to end.
I remember now the name of the lady, « Travis Birds ».
Good luck on your way.
OMG, this is a remarkable piece of work! The mixes sound very pro and radio ready. Nothing more to say in this topic - just spot on. Kudos and envy your skills.
But that’s not all. The songs and the performances are excellent as well. And I really like these non-trivial lyrics, which is not so often seen. In other universes it would be top charting band, but here… Just a couple of views on YT.
I would also not mind if you would briefly describe the mixing process, plugins used, etc. Was it professionally mastered (sounds like it was, that’s for sure)?
In answer to your questions:
My go-to plugins for this project were: LSP Parametric EQ, Fircomp2, peakeater, ACE High/Low Pass Filter, Airwindows LAConsole, ChowTapeModel, Free Delay, Orilriver, Epicverb, Panagement 2 and TAL-Chorus-LX. There were lots of other plugins used, but these were the ones used in every song. Orilriver and Epicverb are both Windows plugins used via Carla Rack.
For monitoring I used Yamaha NS-10s powered by a Yamaha CA-810 amp. I also used M-Audio BX8s (for checking the bass) and DT770 headphones.
The album was professionally mastered by Camilo Silva F. Mastering.
Have to agree these are extremely well done productions! I think we’ve all got a relative we can think of on either side of the political spectrum that resembles “You’re Scaring Me”. It brings to mind if ABBA and Steely Dan had a love child and THAT is an interesting blend!. That is That has a great danceable vibe that gives me an impression of Kevin Parker/Tame Impala with less rough edges. Of course these are original in their own right, I just mention these names as signposts… Anyway great work, so nice to have it posted here! Thank you!
