AP Mastering released a video a few days ago that really gets into crappy Windows vs Linux, especially regarding professional audio. Certainly worth a watch.

I’m all for more linux on the desktop, but that pro-fascism-dotfile-wannabe-distro? 
Yeah he has many good takes but some are really hot takes. While he certainly has an authority, his opinions are not a law.
The Linux ecosystem should stick together, unite to some degree, and don’t force choices for choices sake. And if choices are available, don’t hate on the other options because yours is oh so superior than all others 
sticking to some established tools, features, frameworks, techniques, is not a weakness, we don’t have to reimplement everything every n years just to get 5% more of something…
Windows is… Something… My only windows is a tiny11 on a laptop, running spitfire and kontakt on netjack2, streaming audio to my linux system. And even that feels icky… But I’m not compatible with apple products, my mindset is very different from what apple provides.

Yeah. It’s also really just a themed version of Arch + Hyprland. It’s, basically, a meme distro like Hannah Montana Linux, Biebian, or Rebecca Black OS, except without the humour or intelligence.
If expressing subservience and hero worship to billionaires is your thing, then I guess you are catered for.

A good rant is always cool, but is Omarchy Linux good for newcomers to the Linux audio world? I don’t know that distro, so this’s a genuine question from me. I also agree that he would be in better light if he were a little more nuanced.
If you’re dreaming of making Linux big for Audio, you have to step outside your own zone and advocate for something that works right out of the box. I use TuxedoOS (basically Kubuntu 24.04 LTS), but I would never, ever recommend it to a newcomer to Linux. I recommend only distros like AVLinux and perhaps Ubuntu Studio, hoping the newcomer will have a nice, welcoming experience.

I really think the Kernel should be forbidden for racists.
Maybe Linus could implement some code that whenever there are indications that a racist is using his Kernel the harddrive gets erased automatically…or at least something like that…maybe a selfdestroying mechanism
