While recording a new layer, I still hear the previously recorded layer. This happens in recording modes “layered”, as well as “non layered”; it is rather inconvenient because distracting.
As a workaround, I can delete all the previous takes before a new take; but this defeats the purpose of having layers altogether.
According to the manual (The Ardour Manual - Track Modes), this is not the intended behaviour. Is there a setting which can restore the normal behaviour? Would you have some advice?
Thanks Paul for the advice. Opaque is indeed enabled.
To characterize further: if I delete all regions on this track, and record again, then the same behaviour occurs for the newly recorded regions. So I suppose the behaviour is not related to a particular region.
This behaviour does not occur if I create a new project and record new regions there. Which I will probably end up doing as a workaround.
Thanks Aleksandr for your reply.
I get this behaviour regardless of the mode “Layered” or “Non-Layered”. Well, also for sound-on-sound, but this would the correct behaviour, if I understand correctly.
This behaviour remains, whether in “Layered” or “Non-Layered” mode, even after recording new material. It also remains when I create a new track in the project, and record some material there.
This behaviour only manifests in this project. I have now created a new similar project, where I no longer encounter this issue. So, it is not blocking for me, although I understand the developers might be eager to understand what is going on.
