Still Demo version after subscription

Hello from Austria!

We have downloaded the Demo version some days ago and installed it. After testing it for some days, we decided to subscribe.

We read all the other posts regarding this topic, but we don’t get any download link for the full version. We always get the link for the Demo version.

Any suggestions?
Best,
Martin

Could it be

  1. You downloaded the full version, but your browser renamed the download (e.g. by adding a “.1” on the end of the filename). You then reinstalled the free/demo version, thinking you were installing the full version.

Hi!
Thanks for the answer. Well, I don’t think so because we have deleted the old (demo) version dmg. And, when we download the app again, we still get the same link. So the downloaded dmg has the same name as the first downloaded demo version.

Were you logged in when downloading the file?

can you check at https://community.ardour.org/my-account if there are any active subscriptions listed at the bottom?

Last but not least email downloads@ardour.org

Hi!

Right now, no because we tried it more than once and then had two subscriptions. Then we cancelled the subscription.

When downloading the file, I was logged in as prisoners unite and first we tried it with one subscription, then with both. When clicking on download on the top, we got the same file again.

Certainly we will renew the subscription, but we can’t work with the demo version.

Greetings from Graz
Martin

If you are able please run md5sum on the file you downloaded. If you can’t do that, please get the file size in bytes and report it here.

The md5 checksum is: 225a8fbc51f29350d9da236391f6ef1f

and the ls -l output shows:

-rw-r–r–@ 1 martin staff 103063391 10 Aug 15:44 Ardour-8.12.0-arm64.dmg

You must have made some other error or overlooked something during installation(s)

From the server itself:

% md5sum Ardour-8.12.0-demo-arm64.dmg
b21a8b90c3b1f8165a896f72e0bba1f1 Ardour-8.12.0-demo-arm64.dmg
% md5sum Ardour-8.12.0-arm64.dmg
225a8fbc51f29350d9da236391f6ef1f Ardour-8.12.0-arm64.dmg

You clear have the correct “full” version.

You can double-check Ardour Menu > Help > About → Config

Free/Demo copy: False

No, the message that it’s a demo copy still appears and I’ve reinstalled it three times. Of course, first deleted and cleaned everything.

You’re clearly not installing the non-demo DMG. The checksums prove that you have the non-demo version on hand.

Yes. There is the message in the Config that it’s not a Demo… so, as you wrote.

But the message still appears. I have installed it on my MacBook. I will try it on my Mac mini. Maybe something went wrong when I deleted the config, and so on. I’ll let you know if the message appears on the mini too.

How are you running the software precisely? Are you clicking a shortcut in the menu bar, double clicking on it in the applications folder via Finder, or using Spotlight to type in the name of the software and running it via selecting it there? Or are you running it via command line (Doubtful)?

EDIT: FYI Config would have nothing to do with demo or not, it is entirely about the compiled code.

Thanks for all the answers.
I don’t know what happened exactly. I tried to install it on the Mac mini and it worked.

As that I have all of our data stored in the cloud, I could completely re-intall my MacBook and now it works. Strange, but okay. It works and we finally can switch vom ProTools to Ardour.

Welcome @TonalMaster666

Have you downloaded the full version and after subscribing?

There is no activation. You uninstall the demo, and then install the full version instead. See also The Ardour FAQ | Ardour DAW

Hello:Robin Gareus, Thank you for your time and the welcome.

I did not know that there is a full version (question-how can you tell what file you are downloading) and i guess that to delete thing. is the verrry-small fine print (i.E. key thing to make the this program too run).

again thank you Robin Gareus you are very helpful. everything seems to-be working now just scanning my plugins
