Hello, I am having an issue with the latest version of Ardour 8.12 on Windows.
I reopened a project that I made with a previous Ardour 8 version, and all my mono tracks which contained stereo-capable plugins stopped playing any sound. (mostly using ‘Raum’ from NI)
It was never a problem before to add ‘Raum’ or any other plugin into a mono track.
I can recreate this behaviour by creating a mono track and adding an VST3 instance of ‘Raum’.
The weird part is that when I remake the exact same connection in the ‘Pin Configuration’ window of the plugin, it works again.
Here is a video demonstrating it:
Did anyone experience similar behaviour, since updating? I do not remember changing any settings that could influence this
This is odd, there have not been any changes to Ardour that would explain why it worked before. Have there been any other change? A Raum.vst3 update?
It looks like Raum VST3 was intended to remain silent if initially only one if its inputs is connected. We know of a couple of VST3 plugins that only work when both inputs are connected (almost all other DAWs always run VST3 in stereo).
Perhaps just disable strict-i/o [1] for the track, or create new tracks directly using flexible-I/O.
Alternatively I suggest to use a Stereo Bus for Raum and aux-sends to the bus, which is a nicer workflow for reverbs ot begin with
