No matter how much time I put into Ardour, I still manage to come up with noob questions…
Am trying to have a play with the step edit function. Right click on the record button yes? But the step edit, and the rec lock is greyed out and I cant select it… Pretty sure this is down to something simple that I have/haven’t clicked on…
Any ideas?
Is the track itself record-armed? If so that’s mutually exclusive with step entry

Yees…! You were spot on… sigh… The manual made sense now that I switched off the record button… Little bit unfortunate that I cant do step entry with my synth, which is what I was hoping for as I am a guitar player, not much good with keyboards which is why I tried step entry in the first place… Before I spend a load of time trying to get around this, is there a way of recording through my midi keyboard in a step entry method?
If the step-entry window is visible, the track should also respond to input from a MIDI keyboard and move in steps.
