I am planning to connect my analogue SSL studio console for Ardour for test purpose only. Which protocol of DAW interface should iI choose in mixer options?

You should plan to use Mackie Control with Ardour. Probably needs a new device info file, which is very simple to create.
If I remember correctly the Duality does midi over IP, using IPMidi on other platforms. Nucleus support already exists in Ardour3, which uses a similar approach, so as Paul says, a new device file could be needed but there is a reasonable chance of this working. Out of interest can I ask which studio this Duality is in ?

No, you need to create the device profile in a text editor. It is fairly straightforward, and you should be able to look at existing device profiles, especially the Nucleus for guidance.
