Split MIDI regions wont combine properly. MIDI erased

Using Ardour Nightly RC3

When I dragged a MIDI chord, I split it into 4 sections, deleted the last 3. I copied and pasted the first section to fill the measure. When I select all 4 sections and right click>selected regions>edit>combine, they dissappear. They do not play either.
