sounds in ardour

I began with Ardour and I am trying to put some new sounds inside. I read that I have to put some sf2 file in my a-fluid synth but impossible to find how to do that.

Can please someone help me ?

Thanks

Please provide more specifics. Have you created a midi track? If so, do you have the a-fluid plugin on that track? Have you downloaded an sf2 soundfont file that you want to use? If you have done all of that, you should be able to double-click the “a-Fluid Synth” in the track mixer, then click the file selector icon by “SF2 File” in the plugin dialog.

If you have already done that and you are unable to hear any sound, your problem is likely that you don’t have the signal routing properly set up from your midi track to the master bus.

Thanks, I succeeded with sf2
I see others file formats, like : gx - sfz - sfArk, all a wav files collection.
Can please someone explain me how to use other file formats ?

Thanks

NB: I know, but does it exist other nice addresses for sounds please ?

LinuxSampler supports SFZ, SF2, and GIG formats. The LinuxSampler plugin is not as easy to use as a-fluid, you must run the plugin and then a separate app to configure it, either qsampler or jsampler fantasia.

If you are willing to use SFZ, you may be interested in the following:

Carla is also able to load SFZ samples, (using LS iirc) and is also capable of running inside of Ardour. So currently it’s the closest solution to a plugin sampler, without having to use a sample server. (Which can also be cool for other workflows etc).

There is also HISE, which is mainly designed for instrument creation, (like samplers with their own interface), however HISE can read SFZ etc, and is very powerful, (but a bit more complex).
