[Solved] Restore plugin prefs

Ardour7 on Fedora 35.

With Ardour6 I have defined some sound font preferences for the ACE Fluidsynth plugin. These do not seem to migrate to Ardour7. And I have not been able to find where these preferences are stored.

Can you reveal this well-hidden location?

When I have to mess around with plugin settings - usually due to relocation of a project - I happily hack around inside the “/plugins” directory. (mostly changing path names)
Not sure if this is the correct method nor if that’s what you are talking about.

I’m creating a brand new project. When I assign the ACE Fluidsynth plugin to a MIDI channel and configure (edit) the plugin, I have a number of presets for the sound fonts in ardour6 (I made them myself). But I can’t seem to find where ardour maintains these presets so I can move them to ardour7.

LV2 plugin settings are in ~/.lv2 so they’re system-wide user settings, not tied to a particular application or app version.

Are your settings still present when you use Ardour 6?

That’s what I would expect. But my ~/.lv2 directory is completely empty, and the prefs are still there in ardour6. So they must be somewhere else…

It turns out to be a PEBKAC… I once relocated the LV2 information and start ardour6 via a custom script that a.o. sets up LV2_PATH… Thanks @johndev for the hint thay led me into the right direction. After adding a custom script for ardour7 everything is fine again.

Sorry for the waste of bandwidth.
