I bought Softtube Console 1 MK II and now I’m really struggling with it.
Do any of you use Console 1?
There is a midi map in Ardour for controlling the DAW. But somehow I can’t get it to work.
That doesn’t help me:
I would like to use it to control my usual plug-ins from Harrison and other manufacturers. Supposedly this should work, even though they are not ‘Console 1 Ready’ - just via Midi. But how do I create a midi map?
Somehow I’m at a loss.
That is know to work flawlessly on macOS. On Windows there is a bug, and I am in contact with Softube developers (issue is understood, fix pending). I do not have a Console1, so there is longer turnaround time.

As for the Console1 control surface that comes with Ardour, that was user provided by @holgerd, who may provide some further insight.
As far as I know you cannot control 3rd party plugins with the official VST3.
The ctrl surface (The Ardour Manual - Using the Softube Console1) is entirely separate, and unrelated to the Softube plugin. I believe Holger wrote it for Linux, since Softube only provides Windows and macOS VST3s).
I have now switched to MixBus. Previously, it was too fiddly for me with the mouse. But since Console 1 works really well with Mixbus, it makes sense, because I used to use Harrison C32 Chanal Strip in almost every channel strip.
Finally mixing with an analogue feel again, as I remember it from the late 90s!
