I noticed a couple things about how the Regions tab in the sidebar numbers regions and it seems a little confusing. I am putting this post in the bugs sections to possibly get fixed, unless there is a reason for the numbering used that I am unaware of that maybe could be explained.
These numbers / naming might not really matter but just seems strange.
Example sample file name: vocal.wav
Open sidebar - Regions tab
1.) If you drag vocal.wav file into an audio track the region gets named “vocal”
Then if you slice that “vocal” region into multiple pieces making selections from left to right all of a sudden Ardour starts changing the numbers in what appears to be a random way. It will start out something line “vocal.1” then “vocal.2” but then “vocal.2” gets renamed to “vocal.3” then with each slice Ardour only appears to use all odd numbers (3, 5, 7, etc.). I would think it would just use a normal sequence of 1 2 3 4 5 etc. as the slices are made? Is there a reason why it does not?
2.) This one I am more interested in but I do not think matters to most users either.
As you makes slices to a specific region that starts to go into double digits then Ardour starts putting the numbering shown in the Regions tab out of sequential order.
For Example:
voice.1
voice.10
voice.11
voice.3
voice.5
instead of putting the 10 and 11 below the voice.5
Again these numbers / naming might not really matter but just seems strange.
If anyone is interested maybe someone can take a look at these at some point, if they are viewed as issues.
Thank You
