I have Sfizz with an electric guitar soundfont playing chords (nothing fancy). At times, the DSP work for this single plugin causes Xruns.
Is this a known problem? Is there anything I can do? Any suggestion of another SFZ player?

Try sforzando.
I’ve tried installing Sforzando for Linux inside Ardour and I can’t even get a SFZ file to load into the plugin. Clicking on “import” does nothing, as dragging a SFZ file to the window.
Which soundfont is this? And what are your buffer settings?
Which sfz file do you have? I can try if you want

1024 samples, default setting for internal soundcard, but the problem also occurs with some USB external soundcard. I looked at the plugin DSP load window and Sfizz was shooting through the roof. I tried downgrading quality settings inside Sfizz, to no avail.
I tried standard-guitar with sforzando now and i don’t have x-runs.
Thanks! Not seeing any weird things and I’m playing some chords with a buffer size of 64 samples. If I hit chords quickly after one another the DSP load jumps to > 90%. No xruns though.
@woozl.1986 Sforzando for Linux I cannot even try, the “import” or “load” buttons do nothing, neither does drag’n’drop of SFZ files.
@autostatic What version of Sfizz do you use? I have 1.2.3 and the problem seems to occur both with LV2 and VST3.
There’s also SFZero-X as alternative to Sfizz.
It seems it works better if I compile myself the git HEAD version of Sfizz rather than use kxstudio’s Sfizz 1.2.3 ?!
I’m using version 1.2.1. LV2.
Could you post a link to kxstudio’s version? I can’t find it in the PPAs.
Doesn’t support as many opcodes as sfizz, but is a lot more stable, in my experience.
Can’t recommend that one, its SFZ support is sub-par.
If you are using the lv2 version, try the vst3 version instead.
