Sfizz and Ardour on AV Linux

With the AVL version of Ardour (9.2.18), the following happens with sfizz, but not with other instrument plugins:

sfizz seems to work fine, but when recording, once you press stop (using the unchanged default key binding Space), the capture is deleted immediately without any prompt to save it. The take is painted onscreen in the usual way as it’s performed, but once Space is pressed, the playhead returns to zero (AutoReturn is set), and the take has disappeared. Unchecking AutoReturn has no effect.

While this sounds like an issue with the sfizz plugin, and thus beyond the remit of Ardour, it’s a bit surprising that retaining the capture should seem to be within the control of sfizz.

Other instruments like Yoshimi seem to work correctly. I haven’t lost anything that matters, but are there any suggestions about what might be happening or how to get around this?

TIA

Before assistance is given (or not) by the Ardour devs I want to clarify that the current AVL Ardour package was a nightly because of issues in the 9.2 release, secondly I always wrap Ardour bundles in a Debian Package, this is not a self-compiled package, it is a bundle albeit a Nightly one…

What version of SFizz is this? Have you tried an updated Package from the SFizz Developers by chance? TBH I haven’t had a lot of good luck with SFizz in the limited times I’ve used it, lots of crashes etc…

Have you tried sforzando?

Thanks for the suggestions. Can confirm that all is working properly with sforzando, using its VST3 plugin, so the problem really seems to lie with sfizz. No sign that there’s anything wrong in Ardour.

The sfizz version is the latest stable, 1.2.3, which is also the version in the AVL download options.
Problem solved anyway.

Have also found that the sfizz VST3 version does behave properly.

I could reproduce it, but not reliably (right now for the life of me i can’t reproduce it anymore, yesterday it happened right away, then suddenly stopped happening. Both midi-keyboard recorded nor with recording another midi-track. Also other changes in settings gave no reliability, like “return playhead”).
I checked 2 nightly builds and version 8.12 and version 9.2

sfizz vst3, also version 1.2.3, worked always, as mentioned by all others, but as it was mentioned here as working, i only tested it very short.
