Selecting only the bass notes of a MIDI track

Hi all,
is there a fast way available to select e.g. only the bass note of a MIDI track or only the upper half of the track in a horizontal way. I am able to select only vertical regions of a MIDI track.

Any idea?

  1. for single notes, middle click on the note in the piano keyboard in the track header (we will likely change/extend this method for 8.3)

  2. go into internal edit mode, and just do a rubber-band select with a mostly horizontal drag
