RME Digiface USB (update)

I just learned that the RME Digiface USB is now working with Linux from Kernel 6.12 onwards! I tried with Manjaro Linux and everything works out of the box. Sadly there is no hardware mixer like total mix or at least HDSPmixer available. Just in case somebody needs to know :).

Hi, My first experience with RME was a pre-owned RME hdsp 9236 card I believe it was called. I still have it. and lastest driver for it was released within last month If Im not wrong. There should be totalmix-like gui controller in the alsa-tools(-gui) package. But you dont have any dsp controlls. just routing, volume, panning. I believe Paul Davis was the one who wrote it.
Im not checking any references here so. probably have some “minor” details wrong. Cheers

I tried the HDSP-Mixer, but it doesn’t recognise the Digiface. On the other hand the things I personally need I can achieve with Jackmixer.

I remember dimly there was a little trickery needed for Hammerfall-based RME cards to get HDSP-mixer up. There was an other binary in the alsa-tools starting with “hdsp-” might have been hdsp-init or -upload or something like that. Also the right firmware is needed. IIRC RME still had it on an ancient FTP server. On Debian systems you should find details in /usr/share/doc/alsa-tools.
