RB3 is a tonewheel organ modeled after the iconic Hammond B3. Free for linux, you can get it at https://rubigo.audio
New functionality:
- GUI Bass pedals working now
- Organ Character — 5 presets (Typical, Clean, Worn/Bright, Leaky/Humming, European 50Hz). Changes harmonic content and generator noise, not an EQ trick.
- Two new Leslie cabinets (Studio 12, G37), alongside 122/147 — 3 total now, each independently modeled.
- Drive Mode — three ways the swell pedal and drive interact (pedal drives both / pedal sets volume only / pedal sets grit only), plus a dedicated matching-transformer model and a pre-swell tube drive stage.
- Full-snapshot presets — 10 factory + 10 of your own, each with a learnable MIDI CC and Program Change 1–20, so you can recall one from a foot controller or DAW automation mid-song.
- Settings pages reorganized
- Spanish manual alongside the English one.
Sound quality:
- Tube Drive reworked with a new curve — more audible growl on bass notes and low chords, where it was pretty subtle before.
- Fixed the vibrato scanner’s frequency response so it rolls off above its cutoff the way a real tonewheel generator’s line actually does.
- Key click is louder and better matched to real-hardware measurements.
- Fixed a pop when switching amp models in silence, and the defaults no longer add any audible noise on a fresh instance. If you want it for a more authentic sound, you need to enable it on the settings.
As you know RB3 is free on Linux (VST3 + CLAP — Ardour, REAPER, Bitwig), €28 for Windows/macOS with a 30-day trial.
Please let me know if anything breaks on your setup, as always.
