For the past year or so I have been recording a complete album in Ardour on Gentoo Linux, with all of the instrumentation and production being done exclusively in Ardour.
I’ve been using a plethora of LV2 and VST3 plugins too (most of them open source, a few purchased such as Piantoteq).
I’d like to give a big thanks to the developers and the community for making and supporting Ardour which made this all possible with a quality I’m more than happy with.
I’m a not very good and extremely unknown ambient creator (or was a couple of years ago). I don’t care about audience, because that’s always going to be tiny, but getting paid some symbolic amount felt pretty nice. I made more from my 1 bandcamp release than anyone I know has made from streaming.
Of course, if you insist on “going where the audience is” then you’re going to focus on streaming services, but I find that unconscionable.
Not really my style of music, but production sounds clear, dramatic and clean to my (old) ears.
