Question to the developers: Can I determine ardour version string before configure/build from source?

Hi,

when I build ardour by git clone,waf configure,waf , waf install
I can see the version of ardour in About :

ard-about
ard-about475×618 68.8 KB

Is there a trick/solution to get

Ardour 7.2.67
(rev 7.2-67-g0be3a509af)

before configure/build ?

I can get it after all, when I parse SRCDIR/libs/ardour/revision.cc,
but this file doesn’t exist from the beginning.
