Question about Automation section

I am not in a position to test this out at the moment but was wondering something.
When you create an automation track it shows up as a parameter with a horiztonal fader you can adjust, but then you can also draw in your automation.
I was wondering how the two interact? because you can change the value in the fader yet the automation drawing is adjusting the parameter up/down as well.
Is the fader used in conjunction with the drawn automation, where fader is used to set the maximum amount?
Or does the “off” / “play” drop down override the fader value?
Hopefully this makes sense.
Thank You

That dropdown determines how automation is handled. If the automation is played back (In Play/Touch/Latch) then the fader will track the automation. In Touch/Latch it will do so until you click on the fader in which case it will write new automation while your mouse button is held down (Or for some surfaces while your finger is on a fader in some cases). In write mode, the fader will overwrite any drawn automation. In Off mode the fader is representative of the current value and any drawn automation is ignored.

Thank you for your reply, I apologize this question was originally combined with something else. I thought I had figured it out with the “play” and “off” but turns out in some tests this worked and some tests of mine it did not.
I created the post again for the original issue I came across if interested, it can be found here

Thank You again for your response
