Problem with adding plugins in Carla

I recently was using Carla to connect it to Google Meet in my browser, and was trying to add some plugins. But after I added the plugin (it was x42 autotune lv2) it didn’t appear in the patchbay but rather in the rack. I knew after adding a plugin Carla would put it in a random place in the patchbay, so I checked for a few more times, but there’s still no plugins. Help!

Carla version: 2.5.9

Well since Carla is a completely different application to Ardour, you would probably have better luck asking on something like LinuxMusicians than here. (Assuming you are on Linux of course).

Carla’s patchbay canvas layout mechanism often places objects way off. Try using the “Home” key to zoom the canvas so that all objects are shown.

I just tested adding x42-Autotune to a empty Carla project and, sure enough, it appeared on the the patchbay canvas, but way off to the right and below.

likely carla is not running in patchbay or multi-client mode
so it only shows 1 single carla client on the canvas

So, check under Settings->Configure Carla->Engine that you have selected “Multiple Clients” fro the “Process Mode” setting.
