Hi,
*NOTE - I now see you are talking about a newer model, hope it’s better than the older stuff…
I used a Presonus StudioLive AR 16 as my main recording interface up until a couple of months ago, I also have an AR-8, both have since failed with almost the same symptoms… speaker-blowing high amounts of static noise at power up which at first subsided after a few seconds but later got much worse making the boards unusable. Both boards lived long enough to get out of warranty so I have two paperweights on my hands… ![]()
Presonus makes nice looking gear and talks a great game as prosumer stuff, for me their two boards have been absolute garbage. That said I will always prefer the true no-latency monitoring of a hardware mixer vs. a simple USB interface but what isn’t made like crap these days? I’ve also had a Mackie board that we use on the road that required complete disassembly after 1 year to clean all of the gain pots, another giant name from the past that is now built like crap…
I would guess all manufacturers are reaching into the same bins of cheap and shitty components sourced from the same location.
