New user here. Is there a way to make a precise selection by manually typing in the time? For example, I want the selection range to go from 2:34 to 5:23. I just want to type these numbers not eyeball with the cursors.
For example, I would love to be able to click into the range properties window (as seen in View/Show Editor List) and just type it in there.
Alas, there is not. There are clocks that show the current selection start, end and length, but they are not editable. I’m not sure if they could easily be, or not.
However … if you:
View > Show Editor Lists , then click on Regions & Marks
make any range selection at all
editable clocks will appear in the Region & Marks section
Be sure to read the manual section on our clocks, the editing style may not be what you’re expecting (we decided to copy pyramix.
Open Editor List (View/Show Editor Lists/ Ranges & Marks
Type in the exact time for your starting point in the Main Counter. Press Enter
In the ‘Ranges’ section, press ‘Use PH’ for the first number
Type in the exact time for your endpoint in the Main Counter. Press Enter
In the ‘Ranges’ section, press ‘Use PH’ for the second number
Right-click the range ‘Start’ flag in the timeline
Pick ‘Select Range’
Alternatively, you can open the ‘Location’ window (Alt-L) for the same section, but this window will be seen across all of the workspaces (Rec/Edit/ Mix/Cue). Which could be undesirable.
Scrolling the mouse wheel over the main counter number you want to change is a quick way to change the time.
