It would be powerful to have preamp control in each channel via midi.
Ardour doesn’t interact with hardware mixers in any way, and any such system would be device and platform specific, which means that we’re incredibly unlikely to do it.
If you are referring to the input trim control added to Ardour 4.x, which isn’t a true preamp at all, that is already controllable via MIDI.
